What Chicken?

Years ago, someone in this house had a rooster.  You could hear it.  I also saw it strutting along behind the wire backyard fence. Nowadays people have chickens and recently, there was even a chicken-coop "tour of homes" so to speak.  But, it used to be illegal.
When asked, "What happened to that rooster we used to hear?"
A lady at the house said, "I don't know what you're talking about. There's no chicken here."
"You don't have a chicken?"
"What chicken?"
"We used to hear a chicken, a rooster, over here.  We just wondered what happened to him."

"I don't know what you're talking about," the woman said, going in and shutting her screen door.  Then, through the screen she added, "He's not here no more."
