Summer Days

In spite of having little to no rain for weeks, the garden is doing well.  Luckily, because I have no school schedule, I am up early with the hose, watering and weeding before the heat rolls in.

The last few weeks have been a celebration of lilies--all kinds--I don't even know the names of them all.

The balloon flowers started to open, and the iris's began blooming over the pond.

In summer we eat something from the garden almost every day--even if sometimes it is only basil, parsley, and oregano.

We don't grow asparagus, but in summer we roast it often! Just toss it in a little olive oil and salt and pop it in the oven for about 15 minutes. It's crispy and divine.

Here is a picture of the asparagus ready to go in the oven.  When it came out, it was eaten too fast to get a picture of!

I hope you are enjoying your summer days!
